Mark Harris — original Dorset landscape paintings and greeting cards, sketched in the field around Sydling St Nicholas and finished in acrylic and Indian ink.
Up the steep hill out of the village, rucksack on my back and the hound by my side, I sketch the combes and sweeping skies of the South-West — then bring them home to the studio to finish in acrylic and Indian ink.

Every piece begins outside, in the weather, with a pencil and a small pad.
I tend to work on three or four canvases at a time, returning to a view across a season — the burnt caramel hills of late summer, the bronzing leaves, the first sweet scent of woodsmoke — until I find what was true about that particular morning.
