This series captures the quiet beauty of the hills and farmland surrounding the charming village of Sydling St Nicholas. Each painting was created en plein air, directly within the landscape, allowing for an authentic response to the shifting light and natural atmosphere of the Dorset Downs.
As I walked through my new surroundings—much of which spans the valley shaped by the gentle course of the Sydling Water—I was inspired by the rolling chalk hills, patchworked fields, and timeless rural character of the area. These works are a reflection of those impressions, formed in the moment and grounded in place.
